oh, it’s anybeat!

Who am I?

I’m Abbey. I was born on the 25th of February, also known as EDSA Day, which is almost always a non-working holiday. I never get to celebrate my exact birthday in school and when I do, they happen to be the best birthdays I’ve had so far. I share the same birthday with my older sister, who gets mistaken as my twin. A lot. I also have a younger brother, which makes me the middle child in the family.

My sister and I are both artistically inclined. We like to trace this gift back to our maternal great-granduncle, Vicente Manansala. However, the career we both dream to pursue has nothing to do with arts but the sciences. We’re both studying in the University of the Philippines-Diliman (our dad’s alma mater as well) and taking up Psychology.

I’m really into photography though nowadays—thus, the photo blog. This hobby started back when I was in fifth grade and just discovered deviantArt. It wasn’t a real interest until last December, when I received my Canon EOS 550D for Christmas. Now, I’m making the most out of this amazing gift by trying my hand at photography. I don’t want to put it to waste and I want to actually be good at it. I want others, not only myself, to view my photos and be able to call it photography.

I’m also particularly fond of writing/blogging for fun and for myself, not because I have to do it. It still surprises me when I get good feedback and several follows! Because of this, I have the urge to write and share more of my thoughts not only through pictures, but through words as well. I always try my best to choose the right words and tell my stories in the most interesting way possible.

Why did I change my name?

Now that I’m getting even more into blogging, I wanted a more suitable name for my site. I created the name anybeat back when I was still a (slightly) hardcore Korean pop fangirl. It doesn’t seem to fit well anymore with the purpose of my blog now, which is to share who I am through my photographs and words. I want my blog to become more personal. And so, I combined my name and most favorite word in the English language to create a statement and an identity I can hold on to.

And partly, for fun :D abbeylieve, I believe!
