Last Day of 2011

Yesterday, my family and I went to Greenbelt in the afternoon for late lunch and last-minute shopping. We planned to eat in Yakimix, but it turns out that they close at three in the afternoon and re-open at six. My sister and I were so bummed because we were really craving for their food! We ended up trying Marciano’s for the first time and I can say that I have no regrets going all the way to Makati for this.

Not only is the restaurant’s interior gorgeous, but the food they serve is excellent as well. It’s pricey though, but hey, it was New Year’s Eve anyway so why not, right? :) Here’s what we ordered:

Four seasons pizza

Tenderloin steak with mashed potatoes

Baked salmon with caper sauce

Tenderloin steak and fried prawns with potato wedges

My brother ordered the mozzarella(?) burger with potato wedges and a chocolate milkshake. I wasn’t able to try the milkshake, but it looked heavenly!

After lunch, we went straight to Town instead for the last-minute grocery and food shopping. Fortunately, we were able to finish shopping right before all the stores started closing! We headed home after to rest and prepare for a while, then spent an hour or two at my grandma’s house again for some family bonding.

We got home before 11pm to finish preparations, such as the food for media noche. Yes, food again! When you’re a Filipino, you can never have too much food during the holidays. Here’s what we had (minus the desserts, I have no pictures of them):

Mom’s homemade nachos

Tony Roma’s baby back ribs with baked potatoes

Tony Roma’s appetizer sampler—fire wings, mozzarella sticks, potato skins

Every New Year’s Eve, my family and I go outside first to celebrate by lighting/watching the fireworks and counting down to midnight, then head back inside the house for the meal. This year was also the same. This is one of the family traditions we have that make me feel like a kid again! I guess one of the reasons why is because once the clock strikes twelve, we all shout “Happy New Year!” to each other, jump around like crazy, and be awed by all the beautiful fireworks exploding all at the same time. Doing this with my family makes me so hyped up and ready to face the new year with them! :)

I hope you all had an awesome start of the year!
